The Rim of the World Search and Rescue team (Rim SAR) consists of exceptional men and women who volunteer their time, talents, and energy to the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department in a wide range of efforts, including the locating and rescuinf of fellow community members and mountain vistors. Rim SAR also assists the Sheriff's Department in emergency situations such as fires and earthquakes as well as body recoveries and evidence searches.

Our members come to the team with a wide range of skills and capabilites. From the wisdom of years, to the energy of youth; from professions in law, medicine, and trades, we work to contribute our individual wisdom and skills to the completion of team goals and overall advancement. All are non-paid citizen volunteers. Our common bond is our dedication to those in need.

As team, we are under the direction of the San Bernardino Sheriff's Department. It must be understood that members are part of a paramilitary organization with a hierarchical structure and chain of command. This includes the direction of the local Sheriff's office, as well as our team Commander, Vice-commander and other officers consisting of fellow volunteers. We are bound not only by policies and procedures but also by the direction of those whom we have elected to lead us.
